Yahweh
Devotions from “Between the Ears” ~ Mission Mustang Ministry
“Close your eyes and imagine sitting on the mountain with the afternoon sun warming your face while also feeling a cool mountain breeze blowing a fragrance so beautiful it takes your breath away ~ Yahweh”
As I looked out “Between the Ears” of my mustang Valentine I was admiring the beautiful view of the Sangre De Cristo Mountain Range. God had turned the mountains aglow with Fall colors in a variety of shades of golds, oranges and reds. But what I noticed even more than the spectacular view was the amazing smell. The smell was a sharp, slightly dusty smell with a fresh, cool scent of evergreens and a hint of a sweet, spicy and musky smell. It seemed as if God’s breath was on me and my breath was His.
Scholars say God’s self-revealed name of the Old Testament, Yahweh comes from the Hebrew verb "To be” and the English Bible translates it as "LORD”.
Exodus 6:2-3 says God spoke further to Moses and said to him, “I am Lord “Yahweh” and I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as El Shaddai, but by my name, Yahweh, I did not make myself known to them.”
“Scholars and rabbis say the letters “YHWH” represent breathing sounds or aspirated consonants. When pronounced without vowels, it sounds like breathing: YH (inhale), WH (exhale). A baby's first cry, their first breath, speaks the name of God. A deep sigh, groan, or gasp calls His name, too heavy for mere words”(YHWH: His Breath in Our Lungs - Chris Lacy - Medium).
I will forever more think of those beautiful smells and soft winds blowing as Gods breathe ~ ”just breathe ~Yahweh. May your day be filled with many blessings.
