Christmas: What It's All About (Week 4)
Matthew 1:18–25 teaches that betrothal was a binding legal commitment, and Matthew explains the miraculous conception of Jesus. Jesus is fully God and is called Immanuel, meaning God with us. From the beginning (John 1:1–3), Jesus has always been God’s eternal plan and promise. Matthew repeatedly shows that Jesus fulfills prophecy, giving believers confidence in God’s purposes (2 Corinthians 1:20).
Matthew also presents Jesus as both Ruler—the One with supreme authority—and Shepherd, who cares for and protects His people personally and intimately. Ultimately, Jesus came to earth to accomplish what we could never do ourselves. He is the only way to salvation (Matthew 1:21; John 3:16; Matthew 2:9–12). Christmas reveals God’s love, making a way for us through His Son.
