"Between the Ears"; The Sword of the Spirit

As I was looking between the ears of my mustang Snoopy I could see the glimmer of spiderwebs across the trail.  Anyone who horseback rides or hikes in the woods of Missouri in mid Summer knows that you can get covered in spiders and their webs if you don’t have something to cut through the webs as you travel down the trail.  My weapon to ward off these pesky little creatures and their sticky creations is a small tree limb.
As Snoopy and I move down the trail I move the stick side to side to clear my the path.  This action made me think of how God provided us with the “sword of Spirit” to ward off Satan. Ephesians 6:17 says “take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." This verse is part of a passage that describes the "full armor of God" that we as Christians are to put on for spiritual warfare.
“While all the other pieces of spiritual armor are for defense, the sword of the Spirit allows us to take the offense. The sword analogy speaks of the holiness and power of the Word of God. There is no greater spiritual weapon. In Jesus’ temptations in the desert, the Word of God was always His overpowering response to Satan.” (Got Questions.com).
What a blessing that the same Word is available to us today!
May your day be filled with many blessings and when Satan  covers your path may you pick up your sword (God’s word) and ward him off.
